Romanian Contemporary Photography INFLUX is a website dedicated to the exposure, promotion and discussion of contemporary artistic practices that use photography at their core. The approach aims to generate a necessary online resource for the artistic community by increasing the visibility of Romanian artists working with photography as their main medium of expression, by presenting existing series, as well as by commissioning new works and interviews and articles.
INFLUX proposes an x-ray of photographic practice in a problematic moment, marked by the establishment of the POST regime in multiple trajectories: Post-Photography, Post-Cinema, Post-Humanism, Post-Truth, Post-Internet. With the aim of crystallizing a community of artists using photography on a local scene lacking resources and funding continuity, discouraged by the lack of dedicated galleries and, at the same time, by the absence of a Museum of Photography, the website aims to launch project selections annually, commissioning works and promoting artists, while also giving actors from different cultural centers the opportunity to connect.
The platform is an initiative of the Slow-Sync PH association, launched under the artistic coordination of Andrei Mateescu, Raluca Oancea and Mihai Șovăială, with the support of Rareș Grozea (translations) and Marina Oprea (editing).
The project is co-financed by AFCN and does not necessarily represent the position of the National Cultural Fund Administration. AFCN is not responsible for the content of the project or how the results of the project may be used. These are entirely the responsibility of the beneficiary of the financing.
