Sculpted Spaces
Site constructions imagine the possibility of future buildings or the dissolution of buildings deemed unworthy. In order to construct, one needs to deconstruct. Either by demolishing or by changing the natural environment, further prospects cannot happen without deconstruction. A construction site embraces the promise of new developments. We don’t know precisely what it promises: it could be a foreign presence standing out of the grid or something that will eventually blend in. Whether we look at materials, temporary objects or installations built by workers to help them in their daily activities, they always reveal a transitional phase. At the end of each process, new layers are added to the construction that will no longer show the traces once the building is finished. The images challenge the perception of scale and show the sculptural character of the everyday site construction.
