Fading Studies

Maybe it’s not entirely accurate to call the Fading Studies a project in itself. These works belong to several topics, yet they are all related to the subject of memory. I didn’t start from something very precise. I didn’t have an idea in mind to begin with. It all started with the experience of looking at photographs, mostly archival photographs that I came across one way or another. It was during this process that I began developing my own tools for investigating these materials. The prints that I began making from these pictures had to incorporate the idea of exposure, duration and natural time. The printed result was as important as the time spent waiting, a time that was dedicated to browsing through apparently endless piles of pictures from local, public or private archives.
